Feel Good

We all have a reason to watch a film - because we want to be scared, thrilled, twisted, romanced.. this list of movies we watch simply because we want to feel good.

1. We Bought a Zoo; Cameron Crowe Click here to see trailer

Although not critically revered, I enjoyed this heartfelt and sweet film about a widower father trying to turn his life around. Benjamin Mee (Matt Damon) meets zoo keeper Kelly Foster (Scarlet Johansson) when he buys the 18-acre property with the hopes of reviving it.

2. I Love You, Man; John Hamburg Click here to see trailer

When Peter Klaven (Paul Rudd) proposes to his girlfriend, he begins to realise he has no guy-friends to act as a best man. When he meets free spirit Sydney Fife (Jason Segel) the pair become instantly best mates, but this bromance might be compromised by the loudmouth and uncouth Sydney.

3. Driving Lessons; Jeremy Brock Click here to see trailer

Rupert Grint and his Harry Potter mother, Julie Walters, play hilarious and realistic parts in this feel-good coming of age film. When teenager Ben needs a job, his overprotective mum (Laura Linney) finally allows him a job looking after an elderly actress, Evie. But this actress isn't as physically needy as she is emotionally, and she outlandishly drags him all over the country. The pair form a close bond over the summer.

4. Daddy Day Care; Steve Carr Click here to see trailer

I'm not a fan of Eddie Murphy usually, but this sweet film had me in stitches. After losing his job, Charlie realises that there is a gap in the industry - child day care, and that him and his friend Phil (Jeff Garlin) should be the ones to fill it.

5. The Holiday; Nancy Meyers Click here to see trailer

This film brought to light the awesome idea of house-swapping, during Christmas, after being brutally dumped. Two women, one from small town England (Kate Winslet) and one living in luxury in California (Cameron Diaz) swap lives in an attempt to cure themselves of heartbreak. Each women of course find romance in their holiday spots, and must decide whether to leave or stay.

6. My Big Fat Greek Wedding; Joel Zwick Click here to see trailer

30 years old and still not married wouldn't seem like a big deal to some, but to Toula (Nia Vadalos) and her large Greek family it certainly is. When she finally meets the man of her dreams (John Corbett) she struggles to convince her family that he is the one - as he is a Catholic, vegetarian, only child, American.

7. Legally Blonde; Robert Luketic Click here to see trailer

This is the kind of revenge I can endorse - getting an education. When blonde beauty Elle Woods (Reese Witherspoon) is unexpectedly dumped by her rich and pretentious boyfriend, she decides that the only way to win him back is to get into Harvard and become a lawyer. Elle makes it look easy, as she is accepted by the esteemed university, and out does her classmates - much to the annoyance of her ex.

8. Shallow Hal; Peter Farrelly and Bobby Farrelly Click here to see trailer

Hal (Jack Black) can't seem to win a date, as he is a 5 going for 10s. When he is hypnotised to only see the inner beauty, he meets a gorgeous young lady, Rosemary (Gwyneth Paltrow) and falls head over heels. Yet his friends and coworkers begin to become suspicious when they see that Rosemary is not what Hal would usually call attractive. This movie has some tender moments, and hopefully teaches us not to judge people by their appearance.
