Adam Sandler

With such a lot of hate surrounding Adam Sandler's latest film I thought I'd show my guilty pleasure and secret celebrity crush a little love by highlighting some of his better work.

1. Blended; Frank Coraci Click here to see trailer

Although set up on a disastrous blind date, Lauren (Drew Barrymore) and Jim (Sandler) seemed destined to meet again and again. Both single parents, struggling with raising their strange and pre pubescent children, embark on the trip of a lifetime to Africa. Unfortunately part of the deal is that they spend a lot of time together. This is the classic Barrymore/Sandler film; lovable, heartfelt, hilarious, and critically despised.

2. Big Daddy; Dennis Dugan Click here to see trailer

Irresponsible and recently dumped Sonny (Sandler) decides the only way to win back his girlfriend is to adopt a 5 year old child, Julian (Dylan Sprouse). After overcoming the struggles of looking after such a small, hungry, and needy child, Sonny realises that Julian holds a special place in his heart. Adam Sandler is his trademark combo of angry, obtuse, and loving.

3. Funny People; Judd Apatow Click here to see trailer

When infamous comic, George Simmons (Sandler) discovers he is dying, he hires struggling comedian (Seth Rogan) to be his mentor and assistant. The pair form a close relationship, discovering there is more to life than being rich and famous. This film is surprisingly sad, but lifted by the guest stars, cheeky children, and a true bromance.

4. The Wedding Singer; Frank Coraci Click here to see trailer

Another classic Sandler/Barrymore combination. Set in 1985, recently dumped wedding singer Robbie meets lovely and perfect Julia - who is engaged to the bad guy. The hair, the leather, and the music, this film is the true 80s romance.

5. Click; Frank Coraci Click here to see trailer

This is the story of discovering what is truly important in life. Michael Newman (Sandler) is spending a ridiculous amount of time at work which begins to disappoint his beautiful wife and lovely children, but luckily he meets a strange inventor (Christopher Walken) who gives him a remote control which enables him to skip back and forth through time. At first he skips through the boring stuff, and slows down the exciting things like bouncing breasts of a jogger, but then discovers he also is skipping precious moments!

6. Mr Deeds; Steven Brill Click here to see trailer

Beloved small town man, Longfellow Deeds (Sandler) inherits a huge amount of money and a large estate, forcing him out of his quiet and simple country lifestyle. When a reporter Babe Bennett (Winona Ryder) learns of this rags to riches story, she tricks her way into Deeds' sweet life to get the inside scoop. This movie is very quotable, with a myriad of lovable characters - including a cross eyed Steve Buscemi.

7. The Longest Yard; Peter Segal Click here to see trailer

Infamous pro football player Paul Crewe (Sandler) is sent to prison after a high profile, drunken police chase. While he is inside, he orchestrates a prison football team to play against the guards. Although the game is corrupted, Crewe makes special friendships with the inmates, especially Caretaker (Chris Rock).

8. 50 First Dates; Peter Segal Click here to see trailer

Playboy and loving veterinarian Henry (Sandler) discovers the perfect woman (Drew Barrymore)  - the only problem is that every morning her memory resets itself and she has no recollection of their lovely dates. Henry works alongside her friends and family to win their approval, and Lucy's trust. This film is yet another golden Drew and Adam combination, full of laughs and heart.
